Two more people died due to floods in Assam. The floods have devastated 26 districts of the state and affected more than 36 lakh people. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, one person died on Wednesday near Baghbar in Barpeta and another near Morigaon Revenue Division.
Director-General of National Disaster Response Force in Assam (NDRF) S. N. Pradhan said 16 teams of National Disaster Response forces are deployed in Assam and 20 teams in Bihar.

At the same time, the situation is very bad in 26 districts including Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Darang, Baksa, Nalbari, Barpeta, Chirang, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Golpara. The worst affected is Goalpara, where 4.86 lakh people are in the grip of floods.
An official statement said that the floods have worsened the situation in Assam where two more people have died due to floods, while over 26 lakh people have been affected by the floods in 26 districts.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) flood report on Wednesday, one person each died in Barpeta and Morigaon in Morigaon district. With this, the death toll in floods and landslides across the state has risen to 115, including 89 deaths due to floods and 26 deaths due to landslides.
Goalpara is the worst affected district with 4.68 lakh people suffering from floods, while 3.82 lakh people are affected in Barpeta and 3.08 lakh people in Morigaon. According to ASDMA, currently, 2525 villages in Assam are submerged and crops are damaged in an area of 1,15,515.25 hectares.
According to the bulletin, 120 animals have been killed so far by the floods, while 147 others have been rescued from Kaziranga National Park.
The central government Rs 346 crore announced for flood-affected Assam
The central government on Wednesday announced the first installment of Rs 346 crore for flood-hit Assam. About 56 lakh people have been affected by the floods in 26 districts of the state. The death toll due to floods and landslides has increased to 115 with two more deaths.
Union Water Energy Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat spoke in detail to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on the issue of flooding through video conferencing. Shekhawat urged Sonowal to send more proposals under the Disaster Risk Management Fund so that more financial support could be released for the state.
