India’s young star runner Hima Das has been nominated for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, the highest honor from the sport given this year. Hima has achieved great achievements in a short career by her talent. His name has not been recommended by the state of Assam but by his sports department.

The Assam government has recommended the Khel Ratna Award for the name of the country’s top-performing athlete Hima Das, who performed brilliantly in 2018. Assam Sports Secretary Dulal Chandra Das sent a letter of recommendation to the Sports Ministry on 5 June. July 20 is the last date for sending names for Sports Honors to be given this year. Sportspersons will be honored on Sports Day on 29 August.

The 20-year-old Das, a resident of Dhing village in Assam, is the youngest player nominated for the Khel Ratna this year. Hima is India’s first track athlete to win the global title at the Under-20 World Championships in Finland in 2018. Apart from the under-20 world title in 2018, Hima won silver in the 400 meters in the Jakarta Asian Games, four in the 400-meter relay, and four times in the women’s 400-meter gold. He received the Arjuna Award in 2018.

Apart from Hima, Bhalafenk player Neeraj Chopra, wrestler Vinesh Phogat, table tennis player Manika Batra, women’s hockey captain Rani Rampal and cricketer Rohit Sharma have also been nominated for the country’s highest sports award for this year’s biggest sports honor.
