Indian-origin surgeon Satyendra Dev Khanna and her daughter Priya Khanna died in a war with the Coronavirus in New Jersey province of the United States. Both were killed by Coronavirus. Province Governor Phil Murphy expressed grief over the demise of the doctor’s father-daughter, saying that he had dedicated his life to others. We cannot express our feelings in words. Many doctors of Indian origin are vulnerable to Coronavirus. Most doctors who are infected are reported to be from New York and New Jersey.

Doctors of Indian origin are proud

President of the American Association of Physicians of India (American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI)), Dr. Suresh Reddy said that we bravely appreciate the fight against the virus by hundreds of Indian-origin medical personnel. Every 7th doctor in America is an Indian and they are at the forefront. They are acting as soldiers and fighting the virus. In the US, Indian-origin doctors account for 5 percent. AAPI represents over 80 thousand physicians of Indian origin.

Reddy said that the fight against COVID-19 is not going to end in a few months. This time can be up to 1-2 years until a vaccine or antiviral agent is developed. Reddy said that as the US emerges from the epidemic, a lesson must be learned that the US must establish its manufacturing base so that it does not have to depend on China for supplies. For example, if we manufactured companies manufacturing masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE) in the US, we would not have problems with supply shortages. Not everyone needs to look towards China to get masks, PPE, ventilators.

The entire family is involved in the medical field

78-year-old Satyendra Dev Khanna was the head of the surgical department at several hospitals in New Jersey. While his 43-year-old daughter Priya was the Chief of Residents at Central Hospital.
